My name is Brandi Salters and like many of us, I have a full life as a wife, a mother of two, who also works full time.

Several months ago I realized that I would have these conversations with my mom about the struggles and frustrations of juggling careers, parenting, and relationships as a mom. And no matter the complaint about what I was facing, her response was, “Get used to it Brandi….It’s Just What Moms Do.”  My close girlfriends and I were having these same conversations about the everyday struggle of finding balance as wives, moms, and as career-oriented women and it hit me, she was right, and these conversations proved it-It’s Just What Mom’s Do.

So, I decided to bring those friends together to engage and collaborate in meaningful discussions over diverse topics, exploring how we, not only deal with these challenges but how they impact our lives.

We are on a mission to bring these challenging issues to the table, invite experts to share solutions and create conversations that empower our overall ability to better navigate doing Just What Moms Do.

    HEALTH + WELLNESS CONSULTANT

Passionate about all things travel, exploration, and culturally enriching experiences…my daydreams are usually about curating my next big trip! It’s not uncommon to find me battling it out on the tennis court or golf course —I’m always up for a friendly competition. Being outdoors is my jam – whether working out, snow skiing (wish I lived closer to the mountains), trying my hand at the random but totally amazing sport of dogsledding or hiking through nature’s wonders, I’m always chasing that nest burst of fresh air and natural beauty.  Being in nature, to me, is like one step closer to God.

Let’s talk about what really fills my heart, though: my family. My husband and two kiddos are my world. Seriously, I couldn't ask for a more loving crew to share this wild ride of life with. And my parents? They're more than family to me—they're my best friends, my guides, and my earthly angels. My dad, who’s now watching over me from heaven, is still very much a part of everything I do. Life hasn’t always been easy, and my family has helped me navigate some tough moments, like when my older sister Dana was involved in a severe car accident as a teenager, leaving her with a traumatic brain injury. Experiencing this at such a young age gave me a unique perspective on the fragile beauty of life, and it has enriched my understanding of both its blessings and its challenges. It’s shaped me into who I am today.

I have a Doctor of Health Science with a focus in Global Health and a Master of Science in Marketing Communications. I had the fortune of attending graduate school in England where classes were held in the Business School in Putteridge Bury, an actual castle! During my time abroad, my classmate and best bud and I traveled to over 21 countries in one year --- our parents often wondered when we attended school. Hands down one of the “Top 10” coolest things I have done!

I’m passionate about health and wellness, constantly exploring and embracing the latest research/trends that promote optimal well-being. I love learning, experimenting, and sharing what truly makes a difference in living a healthy life (it’s what I do for work too).

I am not sure what makes me unique! But, I do know that I am “fearfully and wonderfully made.”

    PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER

If you’re looking for someone whose heart beats for food, adventure, and meaningful change, look no further! My biggest passion in life is to become an international food blogger—I'm a total foodie at heart, and I absolutely love exploring new cultures through their cuisine.

But here’s a fun little secret about me that most people don’t know: my family roots run deep in Nigeria, on both sides! And to top it off, my name is literally royalty come home—how cool is that?! While it's pretty common for Yoruba names to have ties to royalty, I like to think mine has a little extra magic.

My family? Well, it’s the heart of everything I do. I’ve got two amazing kids (14 and 4) and a wonderful, supportive husband who is always in my corner. Together we make up this beautiful and dynamic unit.

When it comes to my entertainment preferences, I am all about The Lion King. Yes, the stage play and the movie. The visuals and messages about family and life is a story that sticks with you.

One of the coolest things I’ve ever done was traveling to Nigeria when I was just 10 years old—*alone* with my sister! We stayed in Lagos for 3 months, diving into the culture, meeting relatives, and exploring a completely different world. It was an adventure that shaped me in ways I still carry with me today.

And speaking of accomplishments, I’ve completed 6 half marathons! Yep, 6! And—this is the fun part—3 of those were after having my son. Running isn’t just about the finish line for me; it’s about pushing past my limits, celebrating my body’s strength, and realizing that with dedication, anything is possible.

What makes me unique is my professional journey. I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and my passion is integrating nutrition into mental health care. The truth is, most Western medicine approaches overlook how essential nutrition is for brain health. But I’m on a mission to change that! I’m in the process of establishing my own practice where we’ll combine the best of mental health care and nutrition. Because let’s face it—what we eat plays a huge role in how we think, feel, and live.

If you want to learn more about my journey and my work, I’d love for you to check out my site at www.winn.squarespace.com.

    SCHOOL HEALTH SUPERVISOR

I'm a self-proclaimed homebody who thrives in the garden, coaxing my little ones into seed starting (they're not always enthusiastic, but hey, we try). When I'm not wrangling plants, you'll find me diving into the latest "romantasy" book series or testing out new cocktail recipes with my husband on the weekends—because a little creativity in the kitchen never hurt! Oh, and I'm officially on the sourdough train now, so fresh bread on weekends is a non-negotiable. My yoga mat and walking shoes are my go-to for exercise these days (a far cry from my marathon days in my 20s), though I still manage to sneak in the occasional hike when I can.

My two energetic sons keep my schedule packed with sports, and thank goodness for my husband—he moonlights as their coach, making it a little easier to shuttle everyone around. My parents, after retiring and moving away, make frequent visits, which is a much-needed silver lining in an otherwise challenging adjustment. It was a big shift when they moved, especially after I waited until my mid-30s to have kids, but the boys are lucky to get to visit their grandparents in the beautiful NC Outer Banks. Speaking of the Outer Banks, one of the coolest (and scariest) things I've done was scuba diving a shipwreck there, surrounded by sand tiger sharks! My brother also lives in NC, so the state is officially a family hotspot.

I’m a proud graduate of the University of Mississippi with a BA in Journalism, and I also have an MS.Ed. in Healthcare Education. Right now, I’m about halfway through my MBA. When I’m not in the classroom or working in health education, I’m indulging my passion for flying as an amateur pilot (though I haven’t been in the cockpit in a while). I’m also a yoga and barre enthusiast and have had the pleasure of coaching competitive high school and dance teams.

Living a balanced, healthy life has always been my goal. I sneak in mindfulness, meditation, and breathing exercises into our daily routines—though my boys can only tolerate about 2 minutes before they start making silly noises or squirming. But hey, I’m persistent!

I was beyond excited when Brandi, a former colleague turned good friend, invited me to join this journey with her. Our conversations about motherhood, shared experiences, and even our differences have truly helped me navigate this wild, stressful, yet incredibly rewarding chapter of my life.
