Back to School: Are You Ready?

Written by: Brandi Salters

I don’t know about you, but I’m actually glad to be back in a routine after summer! Don’t get me wrong…summer was wonderful. Between late nights, trips, pool days, and all the memories made, it filled my cup in the best ways. But let’s be honest… summer can also wear you out.

Now that school is back in session, I find myself thriving on the rhythm of a schedule again. There’s something comforting about knowing what the day will look like, where we need to be, and what’s coming next. It keeps the whole household moving forward with a little more ease (and a lot less “what’s for lunch?” at 2 p.m.).

Here are a few things I love about being back in the swing of things:

Structure & predictability: The school calendar keeps us grounded, and the steady pace helps everyone stay on track.

Fresh starts: A new school year feels like a clean slate, not just for the kids but for us as parents too. It’s a chance to reset habits, set new goals, and step into the season with renewed energy.

Community & connection: From drop-off chats to cheering on sports teams, it’s great to reconnect with other families and watch friendships grow.

Personal productivity: Let’s be real… with the kids in school, I can actually tackle my to-do list (without 14 snack breaks in between).

So while I’ll always cherish summer’s freedom and fun, I’m equally grateful for the steadiness of the school year. Here’s to routines, new beginnings, and making the most of the months ahead!

What about you? Are you team summer freedom, or do you thrive on back-to-school routine?
